Learning is more enjoyable when students feel engaged, supported, and interested in what they are doing. Students have said that interactive lessons, supportive teachers, and multiple activities play a major role in making learning enjoyable.
Julio Ramirez said a fun, engaging class to me would be the teacher asking students questions directly because I like seeing people get nervous because they don’t pay attention. Micol Martinez said it feels good to be able to participate in the class where everyone else does the same thing. “It feels like you’re actually learning, like you’re in your studious moment.”
Xavier Thompson said, “I like being able to talk and sit with my friends without having assigned seats and a lot of work to do.”
When students are actively involved rather than just listening, they are more likely to stay engaged. Another key factor in making learning fun is the types of activities that are used. Jaquelyn Figueroa said, “It’s quite unusual for a class to regularly have an activity that makes me lose track of time. I feel as though classes don’t have enough fun learning activities.” This suggests that more engaging activities could improve the learning experience. Julio said, “I get so focused in Mr Ball’s classes because we take lots of notes and it’s challenging.”
Jaquelyn said, “I think that ASL is the most fun class because we often do activities, and it helps a lot that I have friends in class.”
Similarly, Julio and Micol both said activities like debates, Blooket and Quizlet are an effective way to make lessons more enjoyable and interactive. Julio says, “I like debates and individual work because in debates you can get different points and criticism. You challenge yourself, getting no help from others, because it’s just what you know.”
Misa said, “I like individual work best because I can get my work done faster that way. Xzavier added, “I like a mixture of individual work and group projects because sometimes working by yourself works better because you get more done, and working with a group, you can hear others’ ideas.”
Jaquelyn said, “I prefer hands-on experience because I find it much easier to learn and to fully grasp what my teacher is trying to teach.”
Julio said, “The most interesting subjects to me are my honors biology class and my AP Human Geography class because the teachers make PowerPoint presentations that are really intriguing and ask the students questions.
Xzavier said, “My most interesting class is guitar because my teacher makes jokes and uses new slang that kids use!”
Micol said, “History is my most interesting class because I find listening to everything very intriguing .” Xzavier said the hardest part about staying focused is just not wanting to do the work given.
Teacher support and classroom structure also play an important role in keeping students motivated. Misa Long said, “When teachers help students with their work and assist them in keeping up with assignments, it makes learning less stressful and more enjoyable.”
Jaquelyn added, “Changing up my routine can change my ability to focus and learn because it adds a feeling of refreshment when I do something productive, as it motivates me to keep on making my day efficient.” Julio said changing up his routine affects him in a positive way because it makes learning more interesting and fun.
Despite these positive experiences, students acknowledged challenges in staying focused. Jaquelyn said the hardest part about staying focused on her school work is trying not to get distracted by her friends, or even her thoughts can make it difficult to concentrate. While Micol said a loud classroom environment can be distracting to her.
Students learn best when classrooms are engaging and supportive. When teachers encourage participation, change up routines, and create a positive learning environment, students are more likely to enjoy class and feel confident in their abilities. These strategies show that making learning fun does not distract from education; it strengthens it.Â

I’m so glad someone wrote an article about this. In my opinion Its so important that teachers make the classroom a fun environment where student can actually learn by doing actual hands on activities.

This was such a relatable article because I always get distracted so easily and I definitely agree with having students engage more because the more fun something is, the more memorable it is.

This article is super interesting because it shows what makes school fun for students, like Blooket and debates. It’s cool how different things, from hands-on activities to teachers using new slang, help people focus. I agree that having a supportive teacher and a fun environment makes learning a lot better.

My favorite class is definitely English 10H with Ms. Paprocki because class always goes by so fast because her classroom is really cozy and work feels light even if it’s a lot.

I definitely agree with Julio about using Blooket and Quizlet those games make the lesson way more interactive! I also think it’s really helpful when teachers like for me Ms. t snively assist us with assignments to make things less stressful.

Recently in Biology, my teacher posted fill-in the blank notes that went along with a coloring sheet and some interactive websites. I could still talk with my friends, but I felt like I was still absorbing the material. I love Blookets and Quizlets, however, sometimes the more competitive side of me takes over from the nerd.
