Prom is more than just a dance. “It’s the last time the entire class is all together before graduation! Time really does go by so quickly,” said Aylani Ruiz.
For the senior class, prom night serves as a symbol of four years of learning, friendship, and school spirit. Prom, along with graduation, marks the conclusion of high school and the beginning of adulthood for students at Osbourn High School. It’s an experience that students will never forget.
Prom for students at Osbourn High School happened last Friday, April 12th.
We spoke to a few people a few days before prom to see what students would be wearing, what inspired them, and how they would prepare for their special night. Students at Osbourn had so many different types of dresses, and went in many different directions.
“I will be wearing a black dress, I think it’s very elegant and I’m not really a bright-color kind of person,” said Aylani Ruiz.
“I am wearing a nice long fitted dress, that is pink with a good type of sequins, so it is very sparkly,” said Gabrielle Thigpen.
“My dress is an aqua blue with gold, and it is shimmery,” said Kennedy Barnes.
A good number of students are doing their own makeup for prom, while others will leave things to the professionals.
“I am going to be doing my makeup! I use an e.l.f. tinted moisturizer, and after that I will start my eyebrows. Next, I put my blush on, and lastly, I will do my own lash clusters,” explained Aylani Ruiz.
“I am definitely going to get my makeup done by someone, just because it’s my senior prom and last year I did my own makeup; so I definitely deserve it,” said Gabrielle Thigpen.
Another important decision is whether to attend prom with a date or just a group of friends.
“I will be going with friend; we plan on getting ready together and taking pictures together!” said Kennedy Barnes.
“I did get asked, so I will be going with my boyfriend! I feel great about it because last year I thought I would be coming without a date. I also will be going to his prom,” explained Gabby.

I’m really excited for prom but I doubt I would go until my senior year. Everyone’s dresses were really gorgeous. I hope my dress will be light purple or a light yellow.

I can’t wait to go to prom, it looks like it would be really fun. My dress color would probably be black because I like the way black looks on me. I would probably do my own makeup or maybe get it done professionally depending on what I want.

Prom looks like it was a ton of fun. I don’t dress up very often, so I’m probably gonna have to get a nice dress before I even think about going. They all look very pretty, too.

I can’t wait to go to my prom and I’m proud of Adrian and Gabby for winning. I want my dress to either be blue or purple for my prom.

They all look really pretty. I hope prom will be the same for me when I get there. I think that I would do my makeup becuase I would have control over whats happening to my face.
