Mother’s Day is the perfect time to say thank you. They work tirelessly behind the scenes to keep our lives running. We might not always say it enough between classes and homework, but we would be completely lost without them. This Mother’s Day, it is time to show our gratitude and give back to the women who support us every single day.
Mothers day reminds us that the best moments are often the ones we look back on. “My favorite memory with my mom is scuba diving with her in Mexico,” said Ranya Kadmiri. “A memory I have of my mom is how she hangs up all my artwork from when I was younger,” said Gabby Madison. “I love going to Tj Maxx and Starbucks with my mom,” said Anastasia Cernucan. ” My favorite memory of my mom is her dancing because she seems the happiest and most cheerful when she is dancing,” said Adriana Rich. “My favorite memory with my mom was her reaction to me graduating kindergarten for the first time,” said Ngoc Lee.
Many people find inspiration and ways to look up to their mom. “I really like how no matter what negative situation happens, my mom always pushes through and stays strong. I really hope that I develop a similar quality. There are also many times when either she or I would feel down, and she would still try to cheer me up and be there for me. She also sees the positive side in everyone, which I admire her for,” said Katie Ho, “I look up to my mom when it comes to hard work. She motivates me every day to work harder to make her proud because she makes me realize how privileged I am when I hear about the struggle she has had growing up and in her early adult life as an immigrant,” said Adriana Rich. ” I look up to my mom when it comes to hard work. since we came here as immigrants, it motivates me to work as hard as I can,” said Ngoc Lee.
Everyone learns something different from their mothers. This advice can change how you live your life. So we asked some students what the most Important lesson their mom has taught them. “The most important lesson my mom has taught me is to stay strong, because life will throw things at you to bring you down,” said Ngoc Lee. “The most important lesson my mom has taught me was manners that carried into how I formally presented myself in public,” said Adriana Rich.
With Mother’s Day being such an important day, many students spent the special day with their mom in many different places. Giovanni Figueroa had a fun experience: “My mom likes hiking so we just walked on a trail with my dog.” Diogo Ferreira Pereira spent the day in a restaurant, “For Mother’s Day we went to Columbus Grill and ate some pretty good food.” Genesis Garcia Delgado shares her fun experience, “I went to my aunt’s house to celebrate, and then we ate barbecue and ice cream cake.”
Because of students having so much appreciation for their mothers, many of the students at Osbourn also decided to get their mom a heartfelt gift. “I got my mom some red roses and some chocolate because she really likes chocolate,” says Giovanni Figueroa. “For Mother’s Day, I went to Five Below and Walmart to get her a small gift basket. In the basket I had a Mother’s Day Snoopy plushy, with self-care items like face masks, a headband, some skincare, body oil, and lip balm. I also got her an eyelash curler because she had mentioned before how she didn’t like her previous one. Along with those items, I also got her a card, and my sister and I wrote inside of it,” shares Katie Ho.
Many Osbourn High School students have shown how they appreciated their mothers on Mother’s Day, so how did you celebrate Mother’s Day? In what ways do you look up to your mother? On Mother’s Day, I gave my mom a present in the morning and then we went to eat brunch at Bob & Edith’s Diner. It was overall a good day.

I celebrated Mother’s Day by organizing and cleaning my mom’s bedroom and bathroom for her while she was at work, and I also got her a bouquet of pink roses and chocolates. I look up to my mom because of her determination, strong mindset, and ability to overcome anything. My favorite memory with my mom is when I was participating in my elementary school spelling bee with her in the audience, and when I got sad and started crying because I only got 3rd place, she hugged and comforted me.
