Many people travel around the world with their family during summer break, when they are stress-free from any work. People travel during fall, winter, and spring break, but it is not the same as traveling in the summer, when there isn’t any possible work to be turned in, or any test to be studying for. When traveling, there’s always that one person who always wants to have fun, but there’s also the person who is always in a bad mood, which then ruins everyone’s mood. Here at Osbourn, we have students who are traveling to different parts of the world. Let’s hear what some of our Osbourn Eagles have to say about where they are going for summer break.
Mexico is a very tourist-y place, many people travel there during all 4 seasons of the year, but especially in the summertime when all the fairs and dances are happening. Traveling isn’t always for vacation; it can be for family emergencies, work, or even school. Most of the time, it’s people who are going on vacations with their family to make memories with them and whatnot. Traveling with family is nice because you can relax with each other and won’t be bothered, since the kids will have things to do.
Sophomore Brisa Sosa, freshman Brianna Mira, and freshman Marlene Guillen all said they are going to travel to Mexico this summer. “I am traveling to Mexico over the summer because I am going to visit my family, but I am also going to tourist sites,” said Brianna Mira. Brisa Sosa said, “I am going to Mexico to visit family members and go to a cousin’s fifteenth birthday party. I am also going because I want to go to the beach and fairs over there.” Marlene Guillen said, “After school ends, I’m going to Michoacan, Mexico, to visit family.”
There is so much to do in Mexico, so many places to visit, so many places to eat from, and so many activities to do. Mexico is a very popular travel destination, always packed with many tourists. “I am looking forward to many things. I am looking forward to celebrating with my cousin at her fifteenth birthday party, and I am also looking forward to going to the fair and beach with all of my cousins, and to just hanging out with all of my family and making a lot of funny and nice memories together,” said Brisa Sosa.
Traveling can be fun, but also very annoying and stressful, especially if you’re on your own. A lot of people get stressed whenever they have to go through T.S.A ( Transportation Security Administration) because some of the workers aren’t nice and make it difficult. It’s always better to be with someone than be by yourself. Brisa Sosa will be with her 3 cousins, and Brianna Mira will be with her family. “The worst part of traveling is the airport part; going through TSA feels like mayhem. However, the take-off is another bad part because my ears start to pop,” said freshman Brianna.
Staying organized while traveling is the best thing you can do. Whenever you organize your trip, it makes it super easy to stay on track. There are several ways to stay organized while traveling. Having a planner with the names of the food, activities, and places you want to go to can help out on finding where the place is ahead of time so that you aren’t stressing over it the day of. Freshman Marlene Guillen said, “One way I stay organized is by knowing how much money I will be wasting, so I don’t overspend.” Knowing how much money you will be spending is a good way to keep track of money.
While some people have traveled many times, other people have only traveled only once in their lives. Brisa said, “I have traveled to other states, I have been to North Carolina, Florida, Maryland, and Mexico. I went to all these places because of family members that live there, and I really enjoyed making memories with all of them, and I liked all the different activities I did with all of them and getting to know them more deeply”.
There are many things that are needed to travel, and those items can be different for everyone. Some people buy headphones, neck pillows, and things that help make the travel go more smoothly, while some other people buy clothes, shoes, and things that’ll they would want to use at their destination. Brianna Mira said, ” My favorite part of traveling is buying new clothes, and planning what I’m going to do over there or what I am going to wear while I am over there.” Wearing new clothes and shoes during a vacation is one of the best feelings. Not repeating outfits so that when you take pictures and post them, people know you don’t always wear the same thing.
In every trip you take, you always make memories with the people you go with. There are always good memories, but also bad. Have you had a good memory or a bad one? Marlene Guillen said, “Yes, there are times when something bad happens, but at the end of the day, we are all grateful to be having this trip together.” It’s okay to have a bad trip because, at the end of the day, you have to be grateful to be with whoever you went on the trip with.

This article is awesome because it shows how everyone is excited to finally relax and visit family after a long school year. In my experience, I have seen that even though the airport and TSA can be super stressful, the feeling of finally landing in a new place makes the whole trip worth it. My favorite part of traveling is seeing new sights, and if I had a free pass, I would definitely want to visit Tokyo!
