Having a pet is like having a best friend. But they don’t talk or judge you. They look at you with pure love.
Pets provide you with comfort during difficult times. Angie Castillo, a freshman from Osbourn High School, said, “My cat provides me comfort during difficult times. She knows every time I’m going through something, she sleeps with me, cuddles with me, and follows me everywhere.”Samantha Zacatales, a freshman at Osbourn High School, also said something similar to Angie Castillo. Samantha said, “My dogs stay with me through a hard time; they cuddle with me.”
Some students from Osbourn High School do think that their pets are very important in their lives. If your pet is important in your life, how is it important in your life? Selvin Murillo, a ninth-grade student at Osbourn High School, believes his pet is important in his life. Selvin Murillo said, “He is important in my life because when I feel bad, he makes me feel better by taking him on walks or just spending time with him.” Sometimes you just need to spend time with your pet, who truly loves you regardless. Alexa Gomez, a 9th-grade student at Osbourn High School, also thinks her pet is important. Alexa Gomez said, ” My dog is really important to me because she came in the lowest moments of my life. Ever since she came into my life, she’s changed it for the better. I honestly don’t know what I would do with my life if she weren’t with me.” Some pets really do help you through difficult things.
People’s maturity and independence change when they get their pets. Has your maturity or independence changed ever since you got your pet? Samantha Zacatales’ maturity and independence changed when she got her dogs. Samantha Zacatales said, “My maturity has changed ever since I got my dogs, my dogs help me be more active and have helped me learn how to take care of someone else, not just me.”
Some students put their pets’ needs before their own, for example, Samantha Zacatales and Alexa Gomez, both ninth graders from Osbourn, shared that they put their pets’ needs before their own. Samantha Zacatales said, “One time that I put my pet’s needs on top of mine was when I gave them my water on a walk.” Alexa Gomes said, ” One time I put my dog’s needs before mine. It was a day I had a doctor appointment, and my dog had eaten something she should not have eaten, so I cancelled my appointment and scheduled it for another day so I could take my dog to the vet.”
Some students also talk to their pets. Angie Castillo said, “Yes, I talk to my cat in a lovely voice so she can know how much I love her.” Selvin Murillo also said, “Yes, I talk to him, I talk to him in a very calm voice so he knows I’m a nice person, not a bad one, and I talk to him lovingly so he knows how much I love him.”

I have one cat who I’ve had for almost three years now. He’s made my life better because he’s shown me what it feels like to be completely responsible for another living thing. He’s also given me unconditional love and comfort even without speaking, and I think that is such a beautiful thing. I believe everyone should have at least one pet.

I have a beagle dog and she really changed my life for the better. I’ve had her since kindergarten and she’s always making me laugh and happy whenever I’m with her.

I agree that dogs can provide you with comfort during difficult times because I have a dog too. I like that this article gives many quotes on what other people with pets say about their animals and how they provide for them.

I love all of my pets! I have 8 pets and they are all super special to me. Especially my dogs! They are like my best friends and I grew up with them so they are literally one of my favorite things on Earth!

Pets can bring comfort to a lot of people who want to have that type of comfort. I have a small dog that brings me comfort whenever I get to see him after school and on the weekends, every time I get to see him my heart melts so yes I do thing that pets or animals can bring comfort to people all the time.

I have a cat, and I’d love to be able to bring her to school because it would be fun and animals help with stress and discomfort, only thing would be a problem is if people are allergic.

I don’t have a pet currently but when I was younger I had multiple bunnies, three dogs and a bird! I grew up and started getting allergies towards dogs unfortunately.

Pets really can bring a lot of comfort and support, especially during difficult times. I’ve had experiences where being around a pet made me feel calmer and less stressed, even if nothing else changed. Yes, I do think pets make life better because they give unconditional love and are always there for you.

I have a dog poppy, and I love her so much. Everyone is afraid of her at first because shes big and she’s part pitbull, but shes actually so sweet. She never barks, and never bites. She’s always there for me when I’m sick or going through a tough time.

I have a cat and he really does make me feel better because whenever I feel alone or just need comfort he will be right there. I really like this article because I find some of the things students said relatable.

I especially loved the part about Alexa Gomez canceling her own doctor’s appointment for her dog. It’s also interesting how Samantha mentioned her dogs make her more active

As a person with a bunch of animals I feel that my dogs have made more of an impact on my life by being there for me as to my cats they either run away or show affection rarely.
Javier A Via • Mar 24, 2026 at 12:41 pm
As a person who has a bunch of pets in my house I feel like my Dogs have made a big impact on me because the difference between my dogs and my cat is that my dogs show more affection as for my cat they run away and rarely show affection but I love all my pets the same.

I have 1 Dog and 1 parrot I love animal they are like a comfort animal. I grew up with mostly dogs like pit bulls and I just have a soft spot for them any type of animals I absolutely love animals. my dog is my best friend and like you said “having a pet is like having a best friend, they don’t talk or judge you.” which is true because I always talk to my dog because even tho he can’t understand me or talk back he can still sense my emotions when I’m like sad or mad and I can talk to him about anything cause I know he can’t talk. I talk to my parrot also cause he can speak but he just says random words and we had him for a while like years and years ago. I like this article cause it shows that having a pet is like having a best friend you never knew or imagine you could have.

I have 1 dog and Hamster and you explained perfectly how animals bring comfort!
Bri • Mar 24, 2026 at 12:11 pm
I have one cat and he’s all I have had since I was four. He’s one of my best friends and I love cuddling with him and petting him. He is a black cat with green eyes and he reminds me of Halloween.

I have 2 cats and 1 dog currently. My dog and 1 of my cats I love, my other cat is really mean. I love owning pets because I don’t have any siblings, so they bring a sense of having a sibling in a way. I used to have 3 other cats, a hamster, and a fish (not all at the same time).
