It’s that time of the year once more, and what better way to celebrate it than to see how people decorate their trees for this holiday we call Christmas!
Christmas trees are typical things put up; in fact, most families place their gifts for one another under the tree, too. Something every person or family does differently is how they decorate their tree. For example, Mrs. Lindenfelser has several trees with different unique decorations for specific reasons. “I am lucky enough this year to have added two new trees to our house. Our main tree is filled with all Snoopy/Peanuts characters. I have been collecting Snoopy ornaments since I was in high school, so it makes me so happy to be able to display all of them. I have another tree in the dining room with all our family ornaments. These are ornaments that my children have made or ornaments that have special meaning to our family. We have another tree that displays our sports ornaments. We love the Penguins hockey team, and my children are also involved in ice skating and hockey. We also have some Osbourn sports ornaments on that tree.”
Similarly, Mr. Fidazzo puts up ornaments made by his children, too. “We have all kinds, a lot made by two kids and others representing important times in our lives or places we have visited.”
For Jaquelyn Figueroa, though, she likes to have snowflakes and lights alongside her ornaments. “I put normal ornaments like red and silver, I also put extra lights over it that flicker, and I put snowflake-shaped ornaments on it that are also silver and red.”
Decorating Christmas trees to make them look nicer isn’t the only thing that matters, as the type of tree also matters! Some people prefer to have artificial/synthetic snow like Leyraliz Diaz Diaz on their trees. “I love trees with snow on them; they look so cozy.” Meanwhile, others might not put it in their tree like Mr. Fidazzo. “We do not put snow on our tree, but we do enjoy it when it snows outside.”
Another important thing that families consider is the type of lights they will use for their trees. Some people use just white lights, like Mrs. Lindenfelser. “Our trees have white lights on them. I like the pretty glow of the white lights best.”
Whereas others enjoy lights with different colors(some examples of this would be red, blue, and/or green lights), like Mr. Fidazzo. “We prefer colored lights for our Christmas tree.”
Others like to have a specific color to match their idea for their Christmas tree, like Leyraliz. “I prefer to have just one color so my tree can have a color theme.” Similarly yet different, Jaquelyn also likes white lights, but she seemingly has no issues with multi-colored lights too: “I prefer lights that have one solid color because I prefer that aesthetic, although I would like lights that can switch between both solid colors and multi colors.”
Overall the way people decorate their trees is based on their preferences and/or memories special to them and their loved ones, the lights they pick or chose boil down to their opinions on whether they want colorful lights to add more color to their trees or white lights that are a perfect addition to their tree, and to even picking between snowy and not so snowy trees, everyone has their own unique and amazing ways to decorate a Christmas tree!

This article about how people decorate their Christmas trees was a fun read because it shows everyone has unique traditions. It was interesting to learn that some teachers have trees with special themes, like Snoopy or sports, and others use ornaments made by their kids. I agree that the way people decorate their trees based on personal memories makes the season feel really bright and special.

Most of the time we decorate it many colors, but this year we decided to lean more toward white and gold colors.

Tree-decorating is a big deal in my family. We used a fake tree this year, and we like to mix sentimental ornaments with classy ones. Every year Santa gives us a new ornament for our tree that symbolizes a memory from the over year. My family also decorates a tree for Chinese New Year in January and that one looks more cohesive because we stick to only red and gold.
