On Wednesday, November 19th, 2025, dozens of students and teachers from Osbourn High School gathered in the auditorium for the fall ‘25 blood drive organized by HOSA. The blood drive was a huge success with over 40 blood donors. The blood drive went really great with the help of CNA students and HOSA members.
Every blood drive has a reason behind it. Usually, it’s for a good cause and allows students to do a good deed. HOSA Vice President, senior Kimberly Hernandez Rios shared the reason behind Osbourn High School’s blood drive, “The reason behind the blood drive today is that we wanted to share kindness to people in need of blood and to bring everyone together to make a great impact on other people’s lives.”
HOSA’s president and vice presidents, seniors Kelly Barahona, Kimberly Hernandez Rios, and Stephanie Bonilla, shared their favorite parts about organizing the blood drive together. “Being able to help people is probably one of our favorite parts of doing the blood drive. Most blood drives don’t get as many people involved, but we got a lot of volunteers.”
Stephanie Bonilla shared some of her favorite parts of organizing this blood drive with some of her best friends.“I like how we all think alike and we can rely on each other, and it’s always really fun to organize blood drives or anything in general with my best friends.”
During the blood drive, donor Beyonce Amaya shared what motivated her to donate and participate in the blood drive.“I gave blood because it was for a good cause, and it made me happy to do a good deed.” In addition to Beyonce, donor Ivannia Moreno shared the reason why she chose to donate blood during the blood drive. “Honestly, I did it because I wanted to help out people who are in need of blood right now or are struggling.”
Donor Janisha Minas added how she felt before donating blood, “I think me doing this will keep me consistent on doing it every 8 weeks, and I am really happy with the decision I am making.” Seeing donors happy with themselves and the decision to donate brings a lot of joy to people like Kelly, Kimberly, and Stephanie!
“Seeing how many people showed up made me really happy, and it’s really beautiful to see everyone come together for a good cause,” said HOSA president, Kelly Barahona.

I wanted to give blood this year, but I forgot to turn in the form in time. Next year I’ll definitely make it a priority because I believe that it’s a good thing to do for others.
