The Summer of 2024 is about to start in a couple of months, we want to know what Osbourn students are doing after the school year ends. How our summer starts out is important for how it ends. Whether you’ve had your bad days, or the best days, OHS students can make it a perfect summer.
We all have bad days, maybe even bad months. No one is perfect and it should be normalized. “The worst summer I had was 2020 because of Covid-19, I couldn’t go anywhere and it was hot outside,” said freshman Shane McCusker.
“I was still in high school and I took a job at a book bindery, but it was horrible. I was miserable, but my dad wouldn’t let me quit,” said Ms. Miller.
Starting with more positive thinking, exploring around the world during the summer is always fun. Even if traveling overseas is expensive, it is worth it for a lot of people. “My favorite summer was last year when I went to Greece and London. The food was good, I went scuba diving, and I took professional pictures,” said freshman Daviana Vidal. You can also have a great summer staying in the country. Spending time with family and friends can make your summer better as well. “The best summer I had was summer of 2022 because I went to summer camp and I got to go to my family’s lake house,” said Willard.
This year’s upcoming summer has many things planned for students at OHS. Students are adventuring, spending time with family and friends, and exploring new things. “I’m going to Costa Rica to do white water rafting and snorkeling,” said sophomore Paola Almazan.
“I’m going to spend the summer at my dad’s house at Surf Side Beach in South Carolina, I’m going to train for volleyball, and hang out with friends,” said freshman Adrianna Willard.
Certain shows can give people nostalgia. “I’m most excited to watch Outer Banks because it is my favorite summery show and there is a new season coming out pretty soon,” said freshman Cailynn White. If not a show, there’s classic movies coming out in 2024 between June and August. “Movies I want to watch this summer are Despicable Me 4 and Deadpool & Wolverine,” said Jimenez.
There’s obviously a staple in the summer styles. You won’t catch anyone wearing a puffer jacket and furry boots in the heat. It’s better to dress appropriately for the weather by wearing light clothes. “I want to wear crop tops, jean shorts, swimsuits, and Birkenstocks this summer,” said Viyera. Although, there’s usually a pattern. “This summer I want to wear sports tees, shorts, my Birkenstocks, and colorful tank tops,” said Willard.
How can we improve our summer for this year for Osbourn students? “I want to start going out with my friends and family more. The beach and a restaurant are places I’d want to spend time with,” said sophomore Kayla Jimenez.
“A way I will improve my summer this year is spending more time with friends and more active,” said freshman Camilla Mendoza.
