Last year (2025), the Walking with… franchise released their sixth show, known as Walking with Dinosaurs (not to be confused with their most popular show from 1999 and the movie from 2013, which both had the same name), produced by the BBC Science Unit and PBS. This show has up to 6 episodes available on the BBC Network, narrated by Bertie Carvel, with each episode focusing on a different location with different animals dealing with unique situations. In this article, I will summarize and then rate them on a scale of 1-10!
Walking with Dinosaurs
Episode 1 “The Orphan”
The show begins with its first episode, following a baby Triceratops trying to survive and get to adulthood after losing her parents. While doing this, she is constantly attacked by a persistent Tyrannosaurus Rex that barely fails each time. The baby Triceratops’ story ends with her finding and sticking with a grown male Triceratops, who beats the persistent Trex. This story was rather sad in many parts, in my opinion, but also amazing! I would say it is a solid 9.5/10 because I kinda wanted to see what happened to the baby Triceratops’ parents and why it was alone.
Episode 2 “The River Dragon”
The episode follows a male Spinosaurus known as Sobek on his quest to get food for his children! His journey is unfortunately not easy due to many predators wanting to eat Sobek’s kids. He does find food, but a Carcharodontosaurus refuses to let him have some, forcing him to continue moving forward to find food for his kids to eat, which does lead to one of his children being taken by a pterosaur despite his efforts to prevent such a thing. Eventually, he finds a big body of water full of fish, but when he tries to catch one by fishing, a rival Spinosaurus steals Sobek’s spot, which then leads to Sobek going underwater and catching a fish by ambushing it from below. Sobek’s story does end with him providing a nice big fish for his children and a new home where they may grow up big and strong, but Sobek loses his life to another Spinosaurus attacking him in an attempt to steal his fish. I think this episode was amazing and I would rate it a 10 out of 10!
Episode 3 “Band of Brothers”
This episode shows a group of young male Gastonias trying to survive against their attackers, who were a pack of Utahraptors. Both groups end up dying to either quicksand or a forest fire at the end of the episode. I didn’t really like this episode at all because a lot of the things that occurred felt a little random, so I would say this is a 6 out of 10.
Episode 4 “The Pack”
This episode follows an individual Albertosaurus and her pack as they try to get food. A few of them do die in this episode, but they do eventually achieve their goal. That is basically it, I did like it though, so I would rate it a 7 out of 10!
Episode 5 “The Journey North”
6 out of 10, why? This episode is basically watching a herd of Pachyrhinosaurus deal with predators and deadly weather, such as a flash flood that kills off most of the herd, and the individual Pachyrhinosaurus the episode primarily follows, who was known as Albie. The reason why I give this episode the worst rating in this article is that one of the predators in the episode didn’t even coexist with Pachyrhinosaurus, so it is rather weird why they put it in the episode as one of the main threats when none of the other episodes made this mistake.
Episode 6 “Island of Giants”
The show’s final episode takes place in the Jurassic, which is rather peculiar as the other episodes take place in the Cretaceous. It follows an old, male Lusotitan known as Old Grande, who was the largest of his kind, get a leg injury from a younger rival male Lusotitan, which forces him to rest for several days in order for it to heal. Unfortunately for Old Grande, a Torvosaurus, which was the apex predator at this time, had found him and was waiting for the right moment to try to kill him. Luckily, he was strong enough to overcome the leg injury and live to see another day! I would also put this one as a 10 out of 10 because it was a perfect way to end this series.
Overall, I would say that this show does have a good amount of issues all over it, but despite that, it manages to remain as a pretty solid and decent show from 2025! Anywho, have you seen any of the shows (or movies) from the Walking with… franchise? If so, what’s your opinion on them? Let us know in the comments below!

As a freshman who loves science, this was a really fun article to read. It’s crazy that how you explain that they put a predator in Episode 5 that didn’t even live at the same time.

I haven’t seen the new 2025 Walking with Dinosaurs series yet, but your reviews make it sound interesting, especially the Spinosaurus episode and the finale with Old Grande.
