Fall is a wonderful time of the year; it’s also home to different holidays like Halloween and Thanksgiving. Foods and drinks happen to be a big part of these holidays. The flavors of fall are also amazing, like pumpkin and apple.
Since fall is sometimes referred to as the “Spooky Season” because Halloween is widely celebrated at this time, candy has a somewhat big role in what people eat during the fall. People have different opinions on candies. Some may really like a certain type of candy, and others may really hate it. When asked the question of what their favorite candy is, Nissi Rodriguez, a 9th grader, said, “Definitely anything sour or dark chocolate.” Fatima Mohamed, another 9th grader, said, “My favorite Halloween candy is candy corn. I like it because it’s kind of a seasonal candy, meaning it’s harder to find during other parts of the year.” Janet Nguyen said, “I like Hershey’s and sour candies.” Camilla Urrutia-Saravia also likes chocolate. She said, “I really like Snickers and Kit Kats.”
There are some people who don’t like candies. For example, Mrs. Maysuch, a PE teacher, said, “I don’t really like any candies, but I enjoy Halloween pretzels.” Others like candy itself but strongly hate or dislike some specific candies, which makes them leave those candies for last. Nissi says, “I absolutely hate hard candies”. Camilla agrees with Nissi, saying, “I always leave hard candies for last like Jolly Ranchers.” Iris Machado, a freshman, says, “I leave anything that isn’t chocolate for last. Like sour Skittles or Warheads, I don’t really like sour stuff.”
Thanksgiving is a special holiday, where people come together to be thankful for the year. People have different traditions and likes for food and drinks. Sophia Alas Morataya, a 9th grader, said, “Normal people make a turkey for Thanksgiving, but my family doesn’t like turkey, so we make chicken.” But Maliyah Stewart said, “During fall, my family around Thanksgiving makes different things. I make pumpkin pie, my grandma makes sweet potatoes, my mom makes macaroni and cheese, and my sister makes cupcakes. We make a whole feast!” This difference in traditions shows that people are unique in the way they celebrate holidays.
During the Fall, people also have different flavors and foods that they like. Maliyah said, ”I really enjoy the sweet potatoes, the macaroni and cheese, and my sister’s cupcakes.” Sophia said, “I enjoy some corn, I like corn on the cob, and I like warm glazed cinnamon rolls.” Different people like and dislike different fall foods. Sophia said, ”I avoid turkey and squash because they’re disgusting,” and Zoe Rojas Ventura, a 9th grader, said,” I dislike turkey and ham.” This shows that some fall classics are disliked by some people.
Also, during fall, the drinks are delicious, like a pumpkin pie latte or hot chocolate. Janet Nguyen said, “I like hot tea and sometimes hot chocolate,” and Maylin Villanueva, a 9th grader, said, “A drink I enjoy during the fall is hot chocolate. The reason I enjoy hot chocolate is that the weather starts to get colder. I like drinking warmer drinks to help me warm up.” This shows that people have different opinions on fall drinks.
There are so many different fall foods, drinks, flavors, and candies. Some people really hate a certain type of fall food, while others might love it. But these things make fall enjoyable. What do you guys like to eat or drink during the fall? Are there any fall foods you dislike? Let us know in the comments!

I can relate to Mrs. Maysuch’s preference, I can enjoy a good pretzel from time to time.
