Fashion trends come and go. Remember when everyone wore Supreme or Yeezys or just pajama pants to school? Now the focus is more on wearing Birkenstocks and carrying a Stanley water bottle. Not all trends suit our individuality. Some people really like certain styles while others might not. Sometimes a trend is popular because people think it looks cool, but other times, people might think, “Who would wear that?” Whether people love or hate a fashion trend depends on what feels good and what looks nice to them.
Some people feel that how they dress affects their mindsets. Gabby Madison, a freshman, said, “ Yes, how I dress affects my mindset because if I’m wearing a bummy outfit, I’m going to be in a groggy mood. But if I’m wearing an outfit that I think is cute, I’m going to have more confidence and be more energetic.” This is an example that shows how clothing can influence not just appearance but also emotions and actions. When people feel good about what they’re wearing, it can boost their self-esteem and motivation, leading to a more positive and productive day. Wearing clothes that make them feel uncomfortable or less confident can have the opposite effect, causing a drop in mood and energy.
How you dress is also important to your budget when a new trend rolls in. People want to go to the closest mall and buy the new trends, but are your parents willing to spend money on back-to-school clothes and trends? Some people go back to school shopping every year, and some people shop numerous times a year, and that tides them over for the next year. Darlene Cruz- freshman said “not going to lie usually around $1,000 between shoes and clothes” Or maybe you’re more like Paul Soulymane – freshman “ This year I didn’t go back to school shopping so $0” It all depends on what you want to wear whether that means changing your style which could lead to a fresh closet reset, maintain the same wardrobe, or repurchase the clothing you are comfortable wearing.
When choosing whether or not to follow trends, you may decide that you just don’t like them. Manuel Qual, a sophomore, said, “I tried skinny jeans back when they were popular and they did not look good on me at all.” Sometimes, when trying trends, you just have to realize not every trend is for everyone. Trends are not just about clothing; they include hairstyles and accessories. Gabby Madison, a freshman, said, “I tried slickbacks and they made my head shape look horrible.” That’s something a lot of people can relate to. Trying out trends can be fun, but sometimes they just don’t work for everyone, and that’s perfectly fine. Whether it’s a popular piece of clothing or a hairstyle everyone seems to be doing, it’s important to figure out what actually suits you. Personal style isn’t about following every trend; it’s about knowing what makes you feel comfortable and confident.
In the end, fashion is all about expressing who you are. Trends will always come and go, but what matters most is feeling confident and comfortable in what you wear. Whether you follow the latest styles or stick to what you love, staying true to yourself is what makes your style unique.

I don’t really try or do trends but I have seen some people do them. Some trends are cool but most are just weird in my opinion.

I don’t really go with trends, because I don’t like a lot of them. But, I think it is cool the way people express themselves.

I wouldn’t say I follow any trends I just wear what I like to wear, but well written knowing how people do express themselves with what they wear

A trend that probably isn’t as “new” as I think it is would probably be headbands. I feel like they are so cute and give off a clean vibe! Plus you could literally wear a headband with any outfit.I don’t think I will ever stop wearing them honestly.

I like how this article shows that fashion is about confidence and self-expression, not just trends. Do you think trying new trends helps people find their style, or does it get confusing? I like mixing trends with my own style because it feels more “me.”

I haven’t tried any trends at all recently, but when I was in 7th grade I definitely wore a lot of trendy items…and can’t go back.

The latest fashion trend that I have tried out is the babydoll tops from Hollister, some people don’t think it is cute but me personally I think it is cute.

I personally don’t like trends. It’s kind of dystopian to me if that makes sense. Though that is just my opinion!

I really enjoyed this article! It’s so true that fashion isn’t just about following every trend but about expressing who you really are. it felt much better to find styles that actually make me feel confident. I also agree that what you wear can totally affect your mood and energy.

When wide-leg jeans became popular, I jumped at the trend, and got myself a pair for Christmas. I love them! I also am a follower of the Nike socks trend, and I have a soft spot for flare leggings.
