The new school year is coming soon and it’s time to start picking your classes for next year, what electives did you choose for next year and did the choice fair help?  “The choice fair helped me choose my electives for next year, I thought that the fact that we had free roam to explore new classes to learn more about them was very helpful in deciding what classes to take next year,” said Henok Emun. The choice fair was a great chance to learn about new classes that sound interesting to you and to see what the new elective is about. It let you go to different elective classes to meet the teacher and ask questions.

Osbourn High School, offers many different electives, ranging from leadership to, cosmetology to, journalism courses to photography to music, and even weight lifting and conditioning. “Due to the influence of the choice fair, I have decided to take photography next year,” said Thomas Wright.  Osbourn offers various music classes including orchestra, band, chorus, and guitar, which have classes for beginners trying to learn the instrument and people who are more advanced. “Next year I’m picking  guitar as one of my electives, because I love playing the guitar,” said Edgar Ortiz-Martinez.

If you are considering taking a world language next year, Osbourn offers a variety of options like many different Spanish classes, like Spanish heritage and Spanish one through four. Osbourn also offers other language classes like, French and Latin “Next year I am taking Spanish three to complete my three years of Spanish needed for an advanced diploma,” said Thomas. Taking a language class is a great opportunity to learn a new language, knowing another language can help you in the future in especially if you work a job where you are constantly talking to people so you can communicate with others if they don’t speak English.

Osbourn also offers classes that can help you decide what future career path you are wanting to pursue in the future, like cosmetology, auto tech, and even nursing classes. “Next year I want to take auto tech because I want to pursue a future working with cars,” said Edgar. Classes like auto tech are great opportunities to help you decide what you might want to do with your future after high school.

You can also take academic classes as electives next year. “Next year as one of my electives I am taking AP Chemistry,” said Izzi Hoover. If you decided you want to challenge yourself, you can take an AP class and one of your electives like AP Chemistry, AP Biology, AP Seminar, AP Psychology, and many more.

In conclusion, our school has many choices for electives that students can take next, and they give us many opportunities to discover new classes that we might be interested in.
