Hey! Is money important to you? If so how do you earn or spend it?

Money is a huge thing around Osbourn High School to many individuals, So I went around the school and asked a couple of students what good and bad choices they make with their funds. “When I have money I always like to spend it on food, drinks, and personal care or if I’m feeling nice I would spend some money on my friends or family,” said Ashly Ramirez. A lot of people are very pleased to spend money on other people because not everyone can afford stuff at times, so having a friend that’s nice enough to buy you things is awesome but don’t take it for granted.

Various students at Osbourn do whatever they can to earn money, for example, doing chores or neighborhood work because it’s a great side hustle to earn cash. “I get my money by mowing lawns and cleaning my neighbors’ cars for money and to keep people around my neighborhood satisfied,” said Jordan Baker. Even though many people are greedy when it comes to money, people have to be grateful for what they receive even if it’s not the amount they expected. 

Although there are numerous students who make money in many different ways, not many know what to do with it whether to save it or spend it. When it comes to money, it’s a hard decision whether to spend it or not.“I’m not good with having money to myself so if I know I’m tempted to spend anything I would give it to my mom unless I really want it,” said freshman Joziah Thomas.

It’s a good idea to give a trusted parent or any adult your money to save yourself from spending anything, and I think a lot of people think so also. “Yes because I love the thought of having money and being able to spend it on my own without anyone stopping me but my mom says I should save my money,” said Derrick Wilborn.

It’s a big chance that you will spend money fast or there is a chance you will save, it’s a very hard decision. “I would say yes but I would be lying because I am the type of person to spend my money quickly when I have the chance. My money is gone as soon as I have some,” said freshman Jazarion Baker.

Next, we can talk about jobs; a small number of people at Osbourn High School have a job and that’s where their income is coming from. Not many people have their dream job, but they work hard enough to provide for themselves and have a good life. Also, people have jobs they think they will make six figures someday. “I want to start investing to make more money and keep my family and me proud because not a lot of people have the right mindset to do so,” said Alex. 

Not many people spend their money at school because there’s not really stuff that you need.“No I don’t bring money to school because I think I’d rather spend money on different things rather than chips and drinks,” said Sofia Aguilar. And many people would and some would disagree because some people love the snack options in the cafeteria although others wouldn’t eat the school cafeteria food but they will buy ice cream, chips, or a Propel beverage.

Money is a huge priority to many people around the world, it helps many people around the world survive, and have a steady life in the future and it can help you provide for your family and others. “Yes, Money is a big priority to me because I can go to buy food, and essentials, and pay my mom back,” said freshman Jamari Hooker.
