In our continued efforts to provide a safe and secure environment for all students, families, and guests, Osbourn High School will implement safety screening technology and enforce a no bag policy at all home football games starting Friday, September 20, 2024.
The safety screening technology, which is also used daily inside the school, adds an additional layer of security by quickly identifying potential threats. Guests entering from the Wellington side will pass through an Evolv security device. Those entering from the school side will be scanned using a metal detection wand.
Additionally, we will enforce a No Bags Policy at all football games. This includes backpacks, purses, fanny packs, and similar items. Clear bags for medical or diaper use will be permitted but are subject to search. These procedures apply to all attendees, including visitors from outside our school community. The decision to make adjustments to our event security procedures was made as a proactive approach to ensure safety for all event attendees and in alignment with practices at visiting schools.
We appreciate your patience and cooperation as we work together to keep everyone safe. For more information on the security screening technology, please refer to the Evolv Health and Safety Document.

Look, I understand the safety reasons for a “No Bags Policy” but I think it will be harder to carry items to a game with the new policy.

I personally don’t see a reason for a no bag policy. I say this because if we already have metal detectors, wouldn’t our bags be part of that detection? Then if someone was beeped from the detector their bags would be searched and they could carry on after that. Also student athletes who stay after school and want to attend will still have their backpacks or bags with them therefore prohibiting them from attending the games. This policy does ensure safety but only as much as it did when this policy wasn’t in place and overall just makes things over complicated for the community.

I think it was pretty “lame” that this policy was only enforced because Prince William is doing it when bags have never been a problem at games. I like to wear leggings and now I have to take the extra time to wear pants all because I can’t bring a bag. People have stuff to carry…

I really think this is a good idea since it could save the lives of the Osbourn community. But I wonder, why didn’t you do this sooner? Osbourn already had a metal detector so why now? Overall, I think this is a good policy but I still have some questions when it comes to it.
