Our amazing seniors helped give some advice to our underclassmen. They have worked hard to finish high school strong and have learned some strategies to get through these four years and now they are ready to leave our Osbourn nest to become the best that they can be.
“My advice to the upcoming freshman is to always choose the classes and clubs that really interest you whenever you can. Don’t choose to do anything just purely to make it look good in a college resume. The more you learn about things that truly inspire you, the more you are able to understand your own goals and get the most out of every experience! I believe everyone ends up where they are supposed to be. Don’t stress about things that are out of control and pursue all the opportunities you can in the areas which you are most drawn too. If you do that, you are bound to end up exactly where you want to be.” said our senior Nina Nicoletti.
When playing a sport in high school it can be fun but challenging at times, because you have to be able to balance it well with school; but you should never let anything come between you and the passion you have for a sport. Sa’Kayla Herrera, a senior who has been on our Osbourn High School girls soccer team for a couple of years now, said “Something I recommend is never losing your love for a sport from a coach. There will be hard times where you fall, but remember that little kid in you would be proud of you if you finish strong.”
College isn’t a path everyone chooses, for some graduates they find that going a different route is the best decision for them and their future careers. Trade school is often a path some graduates take. “I chose trade school over college because of the career I chose. I could get the knowledge I mainly need in trade school and in college they don’t offer the career I want, and so I would waste a couple of years on a degree that wouldn’t help the career I want for my life. My advice to the juniors would honestly be to get your things together, don’t fall behind on grades, and be prepared for your future,” said senior Edgar Salguero.
“I knew this year was going to pass by quickly but I didn’t think it would go by as quickly as it did. I definitely enjoyed my senior year but there are definitely things I would have done differently and moments I wish I would’ve cherished more. Don’t get distracted yeah it’s freshman year and everyone tends to goof off and start skipping, but don’t make that a habit. Stay focused on your school work because if you fail any classes or SOLs you will have to make it up next year and your classes won’t be as fun,” said senior Yoselin Renteria.
“Criminal justice has helped me achieve my goal because of the reality of being aware of your surroundings and the curriculum we learn can also be a huge help in the real world, and I love how I earned a few certifications from it too just in case I want to start somewhere. But being involved in Skills USA through my criminal justice class opened many doors for me with important people, so I honestly just recommend anyone to take a CTE class. Honestly, figuring out what I’m going to do with my future, I was open to hearing some of my mentors’ advice, but at the end of the day the decision came down to me to choose what I think is best for me. So really just keeping my options open and seeking help from adults here really helped me narrow down my options,” said senior Stephanie Cruz-Garcia.

this reminds me of my senior friend whose graduatingggg lowkey really sad but he gave me a lot of good advice as well, like to take chemistry early as possible so I don’t have to deal with it so much later as an upper class man
