The 2023-2024 school year is ending in a month. Did students enjoy their classes? Could they have done better with grades? Were these classes fun? With feeling bittersweet about the school year ending, OHS students have given their opinions on what they regretted, loved, and hated about their classes.
Starting off with the best classes of the year, a lot of teachers for the freshman were outstanding towards them.”English because my teacher was super nice and easy going,” said freshman Lauren Dow. People have their strengths in different subjects, which means it could be their favorite class. “I think my best class was geometry because my teacher was super helpful. I also just like math a lot,” said freshman DeSeane’ Davis. However, other classes were overwhelming to students due to the work, people, or they just weren’t as excited about it. “Honors world history because there was way too much writing,” said freshman Shane McCusker.
Students dealing with harder classes might be overwhelming for some. Their strongest suits aren’t in that subject, which is why it’s difficult.”My hardest class was geometry; it’s hard to understand,” said sophomore Rose McCusker. Usually, electives are easier for students because it’s optional. “Guitar was my easiest class because I already play it,” said sophomore McCusker.
If you know what classes you’re deciding and what you’re getting into, they’ll know to like it. “My classes this year were fine and I wouldn’t have changed anything. I felt challenged but I got all A’s,” said McCusker. If students didn’t enjoy it, they regretted it and wished they had a different class, but a lot of the time it’s too late. “I would want an art class because I’d rather draw instead of doing my engineering class,” said Dow.
“I regret doing my business marketing class. I just wish I had picked something else,” said freshman Sara Mahmuti.
If you could have whatever class you wanted, whether it’s a class that is already at Osbourn, or not, what would it be? “If I was able to take any class, it’d be photography. I think it looks fun and I’m taking it my next school year,” said freshman McCusker. Students wish they could have the class that was their ticket into their future careers. “Aero space! I would for sure take that class if they ever had it. I want to do it when I’m older,” said sophomore Paola Almazan.
If we think a while back, to the very beginning, on the first couple of days, what were our first impressions? Were our classes what we expected?
“Some of my classes were different than I expected and I imagined them completely different,” said Almazan.
“My first impression of most of my classes was fine. I didn’t really enjoy business marketing, only because I didn’t really want to do it in the first place,” said Mahmuti.
“I signed up for journalism thinking we would be journaling. I expected a hippie class where we write daily in a diary. I didn’t think we would make genuine articles and publish them, but I love it,” said freshman Allison Avila.
In the end, all students were strong enough to finish the school year amazing. What was your best class?

My classes overall this year were alright, at the beginning of the school year I changed over 4 classes and rearranged my schedule many times. I would consider my Algebra class the most difficult since I’m bad in math but also my favorite since I had my friends there and it’s chill.

I am semi happy with my classes this year but I am slightly worried about my classes for next year because some of my classes next year will be more difficult.

My hardest class was definitely Geometry since I’m not really good at Math. My easiest was English, because it’s always been the subject I’m the best at. My favorite was Guitar because it was fun learning an instrument for the first time.

I am satisfied with my classes this year, but part of me is worried about my classes next year. I have a lot of more involved classes next year, including my first AP class. This year was quite stressful, but I have a feeling that next year is gonna be more stressful.

The classes I picked were good. I do regret picking avid because its a lot of work for no reason. But I am happy with the other classes that I picked
