“Its an honor playing for the Osbourn soccer team; we have gotten very far in the past and all of our supporters are expecting us to bring success this season. I cant wait for the season to start,” said Andy Castro.
The first home game for our amazing soccer team is March 11. The team says they are expecting to win and start off the season with a victory. I asked some of the players on varsity about the team, what they expect to achieve, the motivation within the team, and the future of this upcoming season. “I am ready and I feel like the team is ready to show everybody what we can do and why we are the best in our district,” said Alexis Vasquez.
“I think what is motivating this team is that we are a very young, talented team and I feel like everybody is doubting us. Some think we aren’t going to achieve as much as we did our previous years, but we are eager to show everybody otherwise and prove them wrong,” said Alexander Orellana.
“I am looking forward to playing against our rivals at Osbourn Park. It is always an exciting game, and I think they are the second-best team in our district,” said Michael Olguin.
“In my opinion, we are a strong team, but I think our defense and attackers need to be more direct and defend our goal with heart, and give it our all to try and get the win, ” said the center back Kristian Barrios.
“The goal for this season is to win districts and try and reach states. I am a senior and I want to go on and win states in my final year as the starting goalkeeper, but we will see how our season goes,” said Armando Cervantes.
“I am going to miss the atmosphere! Our home games were the best. I love playing under the lights- it was so nice, and the blue turf is just beautiful. I am sad that this is my last year, but all good things come to an end. I hope the boys next year keep making Osbourn a great soccer program,” Cervantes added.
