With the auditions for the spring play over, and the cast going into rehearsal, everyone has questions. Who is in the cast? When can I watch the play? When is the play? What are rehearsals like? Who made the casting list? Lucky for you, this article has all those answers!
Who is in the cast? For the cast we have, Noah Nicoletti as Charlie Brown, Savannah Fitzgerald as Snoopy, Brynna Thaxter as Sally, Liam Sutphin as Linus, Caden Nichols as Schroeder, and Brissia Beltran as Lucy. Congrats to everyone who got into the cast!
Better yet, what are rehearsals even like? What should you expect if you do get cast in a future play? “So rehearsals typically run 3:30-5:30 most days, depending on the day it’ll either be choreography rehearsal, blocking rehearsal, or music rehearsal, and we focus on a specific part of the play, and once we get into later parts of the rehearsal process we will just start running the show, fine tuning, fixing small details, and then eventually adding tech and orchestra for the musical,” explained Mr. Kite.
Of course, it goes deeper into just rehearsals. What about production? When asked about the production process, Kite said, “The production process starts around two to three months before when you apply for the rights to the show, once you apply for the rights to the show and get the rights, then you start the design process, production team meetings, setting up design teams, like who’s your costume designer, light designer, so on. You come up with a concept as a director and then communicate that to those designers and they bring you designs, potential designs and you figure what you need in terms of the technical process, and that begins and then you cast, you start rehearsals while simultaneously working on build days and making sure sets are being built, and the costumes are being built,”
But what about the cast? How are they going to involve themselves in their character? What are the cast’s favorite traits of their character? Can they relate to their role? “My favorite character trait of Charlie Brown is his unwillingness to give up in the face of constant adversity. A kite that never flies, a football that’s always pulled away, and a little red-headed girl he can never talk to. And yet, he never lets the fact that it happened before bring him down. He’s always looking for a brighter tomorrow. That’s something we can all hope to seek, I feel like I’ve always had a lot of Charlie Brown in me. Mostly in the self-doubt department, but the thought still stands. I’d like to lean into his previously mentioned trait of not giving up, and place it into his gestures and line delivery. This is a kid, who, albeit a strong case of depression, always has an optimistic side too. I hope to showcase that in my performance,” stated Noah Nicoletti.
“I think Snoopy’s best quality is his silliness! Snoopy always manages to make people smile or laugh just by the things he does. He has such high energy that you can be drawn to throughout the play. Involving myself into my character had been more of a challenge. The mannerisms of a dog can be hard to get down, along with Snoopy’s individual mannerisms. He is such an iconic character everyone loves, so naturally I have to try my best to portray the Snoopy they know. Watching Charlie Brown and the specials and really paying attention to how Snoopy acts has really helped me in making decisions that will define my character,” stated Savannah Fitzgerald.
“The best quality of Sally is her determination. She will do anything to get her way, I mean, she delivers a whole monologue in an attempt to get her grade raised. To involve myself with my character, I have to consider the mannerisms of a legitimate child. How would an elementary schooler feel after casually dropping the word ‘futile’ in a conversation? How would she act when looking at a boy she admires? What would she do with her hands as she talks? Thankfully, I was once a little girl who talked too much. I know how I start moving my hands once I get on tangents, and that’s how I want to portray Sally,” stated Brynna Thaxter.
“I find that Linus’ best quality is his levelheadedness, even when he’s undermined or spoken over, he remains composed and respectful. There’s a structure to Linus that seems very difficult to break down, unless you’re Lucy. While preparing to play Linus, I realized that a younger me shared many of his traits. For being so young, I remember excelling in each subject; going far beyond what was asked of me in the name of expression and knowledge. Though I may not have shared his composure, I was very rational and commonly turned to research as a form of entertainment. As Linus, I want to showcase more than the timid tot we’ve come to know. I want to present him almost as a point of reason or equilibrium; being the fact in a world of fantasy. He is a book not to be judged by this cover,” stated Liam Sutphin.
“I think Schroeder’s best quality as a character is his dedication and devotion. Whenever he has a goal in mind, he sticks with it no matter what, and he doesn’t let anything distract him. Ahem, Lucy. I’m going to immerse myself more into my character by leaning into my experience with music and show choir. I’ve always felt like music has been like a source of comfort and happiness, which is something very similar for Schroeder,” stated Caden Nichols.
“I think the best quality of Lucy is her confidence. She never questions whether or not she’s better than everyone because in her mind, she is better than everyone. I just got to think back to when I was a kid. In a way I was like Lucy as a child. I refused to play with younger kids because ‘I don’t play with babies,’ and I was quite the businesswoman. I also had big unrealistic dreams. I wanted to be a singer and sing and dance and wear cool costumes. I thought Disney channel would want to hire me if my parents let me post a video of me playing Just Dance on Youtube,” stated Brissia Beltran.
We hope that the production goes well for the cast and everyone else involved! Check the flyer for dates and times!

I feel like having a Charlie Brown play was a really fun idea! I personally didn’t get to go, but I feel like it would be cool to go to one in the future. I hope the cast did well.
