With the spring play coming up, everyone has questions! What is the play about? When are auditions? What are auditions like? Where are the auditions held? Lucky for you, this article has all those answers.
First off, when are auditions, or what even is the audition process like? “Auditions are January 8th and 9th from 3:30-5:30, but I might have to expand the auditions until 6:30,” explained Mr. Kite, the theater teacher at OHS.
“An audition process for a play and a musical look very different, but essentially with a play you have a minute-long monologue or sides which are snippets from the show that people can act out, and then for the musical, it’s a song instead of a monologue, so a minute of one of the songs from the show,” explained Kite.
So let’s ask, what is this play even about? “You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown” is based on the classic Peanuts cartoon. It’s a collection of the plots taken from the comics and TV specials. Aside from the fact that it is a well-known property, which is important for when you’re both working with students, you want them to get excited about the production. Hopefully students are getting excited about this one. It is a family-friendly musical, unlike Peter Pan (the fall play), which had some darker moments in it,” said Mr. Kite.
“It is 100% a musical, consisting of songs that go with scenes being acted out. In total, there are 28 tracks in the musical,” explained Kite.
