So many students love to go to the library after class, during class, and during lunch. Compared to the loud, chaotic hallways, the library is the exact opposite; it is quiet and calm.

Why exactly is the library so popular? Many people go to the library instead of going to lunch or go after class. Vicky Esquivel said, “I like that it’s quiet, and I also like looking out the window and drawing.”

There are rules to make sure people stay quiet and focused in the library; if students break these rules, they will be kicked out and forced to go back to class or lunch. “I used to go to the library with friends during lunch because it wasn’t so loud,” explained freshman Michelle McDonnell.

The main appeal of the library is how quiet it is. Freshman Jorge Rodriguez said, “I like to read books in the library in my free time, but I also get some work done.” Many students need to get work done in a quiet place like the library because they are easily distracted in class. The library is a safe, quiet place for students.

Students can retreat back to the library if school life ever gets too overwhelming. The library is a place for everyone, and it can be used for almost anything. It’s a get-away from the rest of the school; it’s a place where you can put your headphones on and just go off in your own little world. Classes can be stressful, so having a place to go to cool off or just have time for yourself can really help with students’ mental health.
