Makeup Influencers have a lot of say to beauty-obsessed students at OHS. Makeup content creators review the new products that hit the market and give their opinions on whether the product did what it was made and intended to do or needs to be rebranded or reformulated. They try out new makeup brands and see what the best products are and whether you should spend your money on them. Some of the influencers have their own brands. They create these brands and products based on what they think their customers and viewers would like. They also consider their own reviews on products in the past and what they think could be better to gather that information and formulate products.
Beauty-obsessed students here at OHS watch their favorite influencers on TikTok and Youtube and other social media platforms. They spend their time on TikTok researching products.
“I’ll spend maybe half an hour focused on researching a product. I was looking at an eyeliner that looked good. I got it, and it works fine,” said Victoria Esquivel
“I love researching beauty and skincare products by watching reviews on TikTok. I just recently researched a vitamin C serum to see if influencers thought it worked well,” said Ms. Lisa Beth Miller.
Osbourn’s beauty experts watch their favorite beauty influencers like Mikayla Nogueira-Hawken. She is a makeup artist from Massachusetts. Before making content on TikTok, she created makeup content on the social media app Tumblr. She also had a YouTube channel where she would post vlogs and beauty videos. Because of Covid-19 in March of 2020, Mikayla started posting TikTok videos. “I like Mikayla Nogueira-Hawken because of her New England accent. Her wedding was really good and she is really talented. Another reason I like Mikayla Nogueira-Hawken is because of her excellent advice. A tip that I got from Mikayla is to do concealer after blush,” said Ashley Jimenez-Lucero, a sophomore.
Mario Dedivanovic is a makeup artist and influencer. He is famous for being the makeup artist of Kim Kardashian. He has his own makeup brand that has received great reviews. He teaches people tips and helps them create classic looks. “I like Mario; he has good quality products that everybody loves. A tip that I got from Mario is to do eyebrows first,” said Kathya Posada, a sophomore.
“I like Mario because he is very inspiring. His authenticity makes everyone feel welcome,” said sophomore Joseline Mendoza.
“I am very easily influenced and beauty tutorials catch my attention. One product that I had to get was the Makeup by Mario foundation, simply because this one girl named Rosa had a makeup tutorial on TikTok. I was stunned by her smooth base and I researched more about it until I went to Sephora and tried it out myself. I ended up loving the results and purchased it, those $55 were definitely worth it because it certainly upgraded my makeup,” said Vivian Garcia.
Jeffrey Star is another popular makeup influencer. He started doing content creation on MySpace. He has his own makeup line that has received okay reviews “I like Jeffrey Star because he is honest about his reviews and doesn’t do it for money,” said Briana Lopez.
Bailey Sarian started creating content on YouTube in 2013 where she did a traditional makeup channel with makeup reviews and tutorials. She now does YouTube videos where she does her makeup and talks about true crime. She has a series called Murder, Mystery, and Makeup. She also has a podcast called Dark History. Her followers are obsessed. “I like Bailey Sarian because she combines true crime and makeup and she’s funny,” explained Lillian Kipkamara.
Manny Mua is a makeup influencer and entrepreneur. He began creating content in 2014 where he had his YouTube channel where he posted makeup tutorials and makeup first impressions and beauty tips He was the first male brand ambassador for a mascara campaign called Big Shot by Maybelline. In 2018 he created his own makeup line called Lunar Beauty. Along with his own brand he collaborated with Morphe, Makeup Geek, and OFRA on various makeup products. In late 2016 he collaborated with Jeffrey Star for his makeup brand. “I like Manny Mua. I just like the designs, the creations, and the imagination. He has products as well; his powder is really good. It is smoothing and hydrating,” said Joseline Mendoza.
Regardless of which beauty influencer most reflects your style and taste, it definitely pays to do lots of research before making beauty purchases. Hearing what the experts think about a product before purchasing it can prevent disappointment and wasted money.

i used to be a fan of the beauty community but recently ive just rolled my eyes anytime i hear the phrase. Everybody in the community always gets into some sort of drama and everyone is always being such snakes so now it just annoys me when i think of the phrase “beauty influencer” .
