With the school year coming close to an end at Osbourn, students all around the school are picking and planning their next classes they aim to take the following year. Sometimes choosing a class can be difficult. This article aims to help you with quotes from several students. Students were asked several questions about what they plan to take, and here are their answers. What are the specific classes that people are going to take anyway? Brianana Moody, freshman, said: “I plan to take Honors English 10, AP World History, AP Psychology, Honors Geometry, Honors Chemistry, ASL 1, health/PE 10, and Crafts 2 as my main classes. As my alternatives, I would like to take News/Journalism 2 and Intro to Health & Medical Sciences.”
“I plan to take Honors Algebra 2, Honors Chemistry, AP World History, English 10, Spanish 2, health/PE 10, civil engineering, & Advanced Guitar 1,” Jayden Jaggers, freshman, said.
Bryan Nunez Mercado, freshman, said: “The notable class I’m gonna be taking next year is Auto Technology, I plan to specialize in the career path one day. “
What is the reason these students picked their classes? “I would like to take these classes to pass and stuff, but also to up the difficulty because I feel like I don’t get enough work in my classes now, which are just normal ones,” Brianana said.
Jaelyn Rivera, freshman, had an impactful statement when they said: “I chose my electives (ceramics, & painting) because I really like art and it’s fun to express myself with painting and ceramics. It’s also just fun in general.”
Chaudhry Zaafar Hayat, sophomore, said: “I like photography, and one day I want to become a professional at it. I also want to learn stuff about I.T/technology, and the reason I chose my business class was because I plan on using those skills in the future.”
How do students even figure out what classes they want to pick in the first place? For some people, it can be hard to figure out, so these quotes might come in handy for figuring it out. Bryan said, “For me, I see how I perform in my current classes, and those statistics/grades decide whether I think the classes are too easy or hard. That’s how I make my decision. For example, if a class is too easy, I would take an AP class for that subject next year.”
Jaelyn simply said, “I pick my classes just by which ones sound the most fun.”
Osbourn already has a multitude of classes to choose from. But are there some that aren’t on the list that students want? “I feel like a philosophy-related class would be nice,” Jaelyn said.
Bryan said. “I think it would be nice if Osbourn could have a culinary class in person, as some people like to learn face to face, and I know people can take it online, but not everyone has the resources to take it online even if they wanted to.”
“Electrical engineering or classes surrounding that subject would be nice,” said Zafaar.
As class selection wraps up. It is clear that the students of Osbourn are thinking ahead, choosing classes that involve their interests, goals, and dreams for the future.
