The girls soccer season is coming up fast, especially their tryouts. Their tryouts are February 24th through the 26th. As the excitement is building up for the new upcoming soccer season, the girls team is working hard during their preseason. At the conditioning they are working to be better for themselves and the team. They are also building more team skills, and building their fitness as these conditionings are going along. This year is going to be a fresh start with having some returning players and some new talented players. Their preseason focuses on not just building a supportive team, but also having their training.
As the girls Varsity and JV soccer season is coming up here are what some players have to say about the upcoming season. “What I’m most excited about for this season and looking forward to is playing with my teammates and the feeling of putting in the work at practice,” said junior Jaylan Bowman. It is important for every individual player to put all their effort in at conditioning and their upcoming practices so that they can build a strong team for their upcoming games and challenges.
This year is some players last year playing here at Osbourn High School after all four years and this is what they have to say. “I’m sad that it’s my last season, I’m going to miss my teammates and playing with them but I’m excited because it’s my favorite part of the year and I get to play the sport I love with my friends who love it as much as me,” said senior Kimberly Martinez.
Supportive family members can help you stay motivated during the games, boost your confidence, and they also can help you push through challenges. Here’s what encouraged and motivated some of these players. One of the players said “What inspired me to do soccer was my family because they’re all big fans of this sport and really good at it and I have lots of interest in this sport because it’s enjoyable, challenging, and rewarding,” said freshman Brianna Rios. Another player said “My mom definitely motivates me because she always taught me to never give up on something I love just because I mess up and to always keep my head up,” said junior Janisha Minas.
In every sport you have to be dedicated and committed to it so here’s what a few players have to say about what they like about soccer. “What I like most about this sport is that it doesn’t only teach about like playing soccer, but it also teaches you how to make friends along the way in your life and the skills and relationships you can share with one another, knowing that you won’t be judged,” said sophomore Graidys Rivera. “What I like most about this sport is it helps me push myself to improve myself, overcome obstacles, and achieve success through hard work and determination,” said freshman Brianna Rios.
As the girls soccer preseason is coming to an end, their season is about to start. The excitement for the new season is visible. They are ready to face any challenges that are coming their way and they have fans and their supporters who are ready to see their hard work show off in games. There is a memorable and promising season ahead for the girls.

It is interesting to see the history behind why the girls have joined the team in the first place. What really stood out was Rios response because it seems like soccer is popular in her family and how she has an extreme interest in the sport. I can see why the girls would want to join this team in the first place! It seems like such an amazing time to work together and support each other when someone scores a goal or helps out the team score a goal! I hope they have an incredible season this year.
