Valentines day, a great way to celebrate your love for the ones you care about. Love songs and Valentine’s Day go hand in hand. So, without further ado, let’s see what romantic tunes our fellow Eagles are listening to this loving season!
Some Eagles seem to have more classical-type songs on repeat. “My favorite love song is Falling Behind by Laufey, because it’s so real and I relate to being lonely when you see all your friends being so happy with their special person. Especially when you’re alone on Valentines again, and they all have someone,” said Fatima Melgar.
“I love From The Start by Laufey because it just reminds me of everyone I’ve loved and it’s just a loving feeling,” explained Tyree Totten. I love that song as well, it is a perfect song to share with your special one. Especially this loving season!
However, some of our Eagles see the beauty in the bad, and listen to songs that also hint at love not always being easy and perfect. Like songs and artists that know how to sing about everything deep and real, instead of hiding their true feeling behind a masquerade that suggests love is always easy and great.
“My all time favorite love song is Lover, You Should’ve Come Over by Jeff Buckley. I feel like the meaning behind the song is just having a deep yearning for someone who you miss and want to be in your life again. I find it sentimental and emotional, but I like it because the yearning for love feeling is so real and relatable,” said Easton Peterson.
“I like Something Stupid by Frank Sinatra because it reminds me of my boyfriend and it’s so lovely. Overall I think it’s a perfect love song because it’s so romantic and is plainly based off of love, it’s so sweet, it gives a feeling you should feel when you’re in love with someone,” explained Jackie Valdez Ascencio.
Some singers are most known for their love songs, “Jeff Buckley for sure makes really good love songs. His songs are always deep and caring, always leaving a reminiscing and yearning feeling left behind. But I also really like Fiona Apple for romance. I think she captures both the happiness and tragic depression that comes with the romance scene sometimes,” said Easton.
Jeff Buckley and Fiona Apple certainly know how to include how love can hurt you. They both sings in an open and raw enough way, showing all their emotions and breaking the myth that everyone finds a special person and everything loving lasts forever and is perfect.
“I think Lana Del Rey makes romance songs in the perfect way. She includes the hurt that also comes with the obsession and love for someone else. I just think a lot of her songs are real and make you emotional because of how relatable they are,” Munyrathana Kong said.
Lana Del Rey is another artist that truly knows how to sing about the bad things that may happen in a relationship, the kind no one from the outside really knows about. Lana Del Rey sings about the hard truth, the deadly obsession, and toxic parts of relationships.
Laufey is our Eagles’ top romance pick! What are your favorite love songs and the meaning behind them? Tell us what you’re listening to this Valentine’s Day in the comments! Personally, I recommend you guys to listen to Mazzy Star if you haven’t heard!
