This year, SLS has introduced a few enhancements to further support student learning:

• Academic Check: Students begin each session by completing a brief “Academic Check.” This tool helps students focus their efforts by outlining their goals for the session, including their current grades and a reflection on what were they able to accomplish during the session.
• Teacher Follow-up: Teachers involved in SLS are required to send follow-up emails to the teachers of the students they work with during each session. This ensures consistent communication and supports student learning outside of SLS.
• Following School Board policies, SLS is a distraction-free environment where cell phone use is not allowed.

  • The forms that students complete are excellent! They help keep students focused and allow instructors to keep them on track.
  • We are bringing in a large number of students.
  • The staff in charge of keeping students and teachers on task did an excellent job, students were extremely willing to complete all missing work.
  • The student seems to enjoy getting some 1 on 1 time to review the content.

  • I get time to work on assignments.
  • It’s very open and you can get help from students and also teachers from different classes who might have simple tricks that they do that can also help you I got one trick from another teacher today and it helps.
  • The benefits are being able to meet with teachers as well as having an atmosphere to focus in.
  • Organized, the teachers were cool and breakfast was good to eat.
