Wicked is a fascinating musical that has recently made its opening, exciting audiences with its imaginative storytelling and dynamic visuals. However, this is only part one of the tale; audiences must wait for the much-anticipated part two, which will be released on November 21, 2025. The film is directed by the talented Jon M. Chu, with a persuasive script crafted by Winnie Holzman and Dana Fox. It is unknown when it will be released on streaming services.
Wicked is the highly anticipated movie released on November 22nd, 2024. It brings to life the beloved musical by showing the origins of the iconic characters from The Wizard of Oz. The story primarily follows Elphaba, a misunderstood young woman with ‘scary’ green skin who faces bullying and rejection due to her uniqueness. Her story begins at Shiz University, where she meets Glinda, a bubbly and popular student. Their opposite personalities lead to a rough start, but as they navigate their college experiences together, a deep friendship blooms.
As Elphaba discovers her magical powers and begins to understand the injustices of her world, she struggles with her identity and the amusing norms that label her as “wicked.” Meanwhile, Glinda becomes more aware of the challenges of the world around them, growing from a simple persona to a more understanding persona.
Through energetic performances and powerful music, the film delves into themes of friendship, acceptance, and the nature of good and evil. It challenges viewers to look beyond appearances and social labels, eventually revealing that true understanding comes from empathy and recognizing the struggles of others, with a talented cast and a captivating narrative, Wicked promises to be an unforgettable cinematic experience.
This musical beautifully explores themes of acceptance and the complexities of identity. It challenges audiences to reconsider preconceived notions of good and evil, illustrating that ‘bad’ individuals are not inherently evil, but rather shaped by their experiences and the social pressures piled on them. The report serves as a powerful reminder that influence and power can distort perceptions, making it crucial to understand the nuances of each individual’s journey in this diverse and colorful world.
In my opinion, the movie had an amazing cast, consisting of Ariana Grande as Glinda, Cynthia Erivo as Elphaba, Jonathan Bailey as Prince Fiyero, Ethan Slater as Boq Woodsman, Michelle Yeoh as Madame Morrible, Peter Dinklage voiced Dr. Dillamond, Jeff Goldblum as The Wizard of Oz, Marissa Bode as Nessarose, and more. I was truly fascinated by this cast; their performances displayed incredible talent, both in acting and in singing. Each actor brought their character to life with such depth and authenticity, while the vocal performances were nothing short of breathtaking, adding an extra layer of emotion to the production.
I enjoyed this film, not only because of its beautiful plot but also its intriguing origins. I cannot wait to see part two when it premieres next year! The central storyline was rich with meaning, which resonated deeply with me. It added layers to the viewing experience that I appreciated. The sensory aspects of the movie were overwhelming; the sound was so powerful that it vibrated through the entire theater, and the musical performances were extremely entertaining.
The film was filled with exciting action and a mix of events, which kept me entertained and glued to my seat. I felt that Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande were a perfect cast in the lead roles, especially since the film’s musical roots. They truly brought their characters to life with their incredible singing talent.
I also loved how the movie celebrated diversity, showing various characters and their unique perspectives. It gave a meaningful message about acceptance, reminding us that we should welcome everyone, regardless of their background or beliefs. I truly love everything about the movie. The message, the plot, the soundtrack, everything. Overall, it was an experience that mixed both my emotions and my thoughts.
Since its release, many members of the Osbourn community have had the opportunity to watch this movie. Here are some opinions and impressions shared by the community expressing their viewing experiences.
“The scene where they sang Popular was my favorite because I liked seeing the characters’ friendship blossoming. The theme of one female character wanting to help another female character by making her more socially acceptable reminded me of themes explored in movies like Clueless and Mean Girls,” said journalism teacher, Ms. Miller.
“The theme I most relate to in Wicked is the scene, Defying Gravity. I relate to it because of how Elphaba saw her younger self and it empowered her to keep pushing on what she believes in,” said freshman, Emilia Ingram.
“Most of the characters were well-developed. Because they cut the story in half, there were some characters who we did not fully get to know, but they will be important in part 2. Obviously, the friendship between Elphaba and Galinda was an important journey in this first part. I thought that was depicted flawlessly,” said Miller.
“The character I most relate to is Elphaba because she’s different and doesn’t care what people think. She also is protective of her family,” said junior, Jayla Tibbs.
“My favorite scene of the movie was when Elphaba found out the truth about The Wizard Of Oz because of how much of a plot twist there was,” said Ingram
“The character I probably most relate to is Elphaba. I like that she was very different compared to everyone else and she kept to herself and didn’t change herself to be like everyone,” said sophomore, Dom Ayala.
“The theme of feeling “different” or like you don’t fit in is totally relatable. We almost all go through that feeling sometimes!” said Miller.

I think the only bad thing about Wicked was the length. It just seemed so long.

I think this was a good movie that found a good way to show how much words can impact someone

Wicked was really good in my opinion. I’ve seen it twice, and it did feel somewhat long, but almost every moment was necessary for the story to make sense. It was probably one of my favorite movies of 2024.

I love how they teach a life lesson of acceptance throughout its audience. I think it is pretty smart too due to the fact that younger audiences are going to watch Wicked, showcasing how they should love who they really are! I might watch Wicked someday, but I’ll see if I have time! Good job on the article!
