What’s harder than running as fast as you can, with no break, inducing extreme exhaustion just to do it all again next time? Doing that exact same thing but in the cold! The Winter Track season is in full throttle. If you don’t do physical activity due t being too tired, try the refreshing air of the winter breeze as you run.
There are pros and cons to everything, but if you’re not a fan of a chilling outside environment how bad would that con be? Track can be a tiring sport but training through the cold may strengthen the resolve of the athletes to finish faster “I’m cool with the technique but what’s hard to deal with is the cold. It made me lose my voice said Dayana Ramirez “If you do track you are bound to break your limits it seems scary but the moment you break that barrier you feel like you can do more making you feel like you can do anything,” said senior Tristan Peterson.
Struggle makes you a better person, you learn from the growing pains. From not really knowing what you’re doing, what the proper form is, or how to maximize your speed and performance overall, it takes training and hard work. The other activities in track and field work just as hard “We do work with med balls. We are basically just trying to improve our technique of throwing at a 45-degree angle which maximizes the distance you throw,” said Dayana Ramirez. “I lead the team in walking and running drills, then we split up into different groups to work on our strengths and weaknesses,” said senior Tristan Peterson.
“I would recommend it to anyone. It’s fun and very underrated. I would definitely recommend it to muscular people,” said Dayana Ramirez when speaking about shot put. Like any sport, track and field athletes need motivation throughout the period of training and doing the sport. “The hardest thing is the mentality and it’s a really hard thing in track. It’s something I think every runner struggles with,” said Laura Diaz.
“The best part of track is competitiveness; it motivates me to be a better version of myself, and want to be faster than everyone else I’m running with,” said freshman Gabi Valdivia Valle. A sport is all about it’s competitiveness and fun. Track isn’t lacking in either of these at all. The feeling of running right beside someone else and pushing yourself past your limit to run just as fast or faster than them is exhilarating, it’s competitive, but most of all it’s fun.
It’s one thing to just hang out with friends, but practicing with them, getting better with them, and athletically growing with them is the real essence of a sport. People see track and field as one of the simplest or one of the easiest sports, but it’s more than that. Sure anyone can run, but it’s not the same, sure you can throw a ball, but that isn’t the same either. Track is an inclusive sport where anyone can learn to push themselves.

I think that people who do track in the winter are really bold because I would not want to willingly be outside in the cold for that long.

I agree that struggling on completing something can help you improve once you finally finish it. after all if you don’t try to improve you wont get better and will instead stay at the performance your currently on or worsen.

I think winter sports are good because you won’t overheat in the winter unlike in the summer.
