Tyler, the creator. A name we’ve all heard. We all know he has come to change the music industry in significant ways.
Tyler is an amazing pop-indie artist with well-thought-out, relatable, lyrics and catchy beats. His new album Chromakopia, released October 18th of this year, 2024. With 14 new and deep-sounding tracks, it is for sure my favorite. Every song on the album, has meaningful lyrics behind a hip-pop indie beat.
My top 5 favorite songs on the album are, Rah Tah Tah, Noid, Darling, I, Hey Jane, and Like Him.
Starting off strong with Rah Tah Tah, it’s, in my opinion, the most catchy song on the album. It has a fun and different beat change with an aggressive undertone, implementing the ‘cool’ or ‘punk’ mood. It’s definitely a personal favorite.
Moving on, Noid. I absolutely enjoy Noid and I don’t think enough people truly talk about it. It sounds eerie and it expresses an unknowing feeling and lack of trust. It also expresses the paranoia and feeling behind fearing for your safety.
In the song, there are eerie undertones, like you never know what’s really happening. The song implements the insecurity behind having trust issues. The fact that you never know who you can truly trust, makes me like the song even more.
The song also includes the hint that his mother taught him never to trust anyone. Which I think is kind of interesting, being that it comes from her.
Thirdly, Darling, I.
In my opinion, Darling, I isn’t talked about enough. The song features a somewhat parallel to one of Tyler’s most popular songs, See You Again.
Their lyrics somewhat clash in a similar but opposite way. See You Again is implied to be more about desperately wanting a relationship to work out. However, Darling, I, is more about accepting that you have problems and accepting the fact that it would be better for both of the people to find something new, rather than being in a relationship where they cannot change for their selves or each other.
Now going into my personal favorite, Hey Jane. I think I like Hey Jane so much because as a daughter of a teen mother, I can understand and actually process the meaning.
Hey Jane talks about such a significant problem in society today, teen pregnancy. Hey Jane expresses the scare and effect it has on younger people today and the importance of thinking things through. This song is a bit more serious, talking about making such a big mistake in your life that you cannot reverse.
Tyler examines the anxiety but readiness of becoming an unexpected father. He knew he made a mistake and ‘Jane’ is terrified. However, in the midst of everything he expresses trying to comfort ‘Jane’ and stay with her throughout it all. Tyler also reviews how he would stay throughout everything knowing only she has the right to decide between the two crucial choices, whether she keeps the baby or not.
Again, how serious and deep the song is, makes me like it so much more. It also honestly just sounds really good to me.
Last but definitely not least, Like Him. This would have to probably be the fan favorite. Most of the fans that find they enjoy Like Him the most, find comfort in the song because they seem to relate to it.
And honestly, Like Him is a remarkable song. Tyler sings about the dreadful feeling of growing up with the absence of a father. Later in the song, it is made clear to us that Tyler’s mom had lied about everything. Making it seem like Tyler’s dad never wanted anything to do with him, in turn, Tyler had grown resentment towards someone who has always wanted to be there for him.
I think the insane lore drop and the understanding of how devastating and unimaginable it may be to find out the one person you wanted in your life so bad, wanted to be in it for you as well, is why so many people like it. They find comfort in Like Him and feel sympathy for Tyler.

Personally Judge Judy is my favorite song out of the album. I love the lyrics in it and I love the subtle flow it has. It honestly might be my favorite song from him in a while

Just like I love Take Your Mask Off, I also love Noid because it relates to me. I sometimes have trust issues because of past experiences throughout my life and that has affected my social status greatly. I can relate to most of the songs on this album and I love how Tyler did that! I can see why people are going nuts for this album! I would definitely listen to it.
