In Manassas, there is a niche restaurant known as Thai Tyme with only 1 other location at Chantilly, VA. Personally, it is one of my favorite restaurants of all time and it has a special place in my heart. Normally I try to go there once every month, and in early November, I visited it with my father and decided to review it based on 5 different topics: atmosphere, customer service, prices, food, and the overall rating I would give it.
When I walked in, I was met by an employee who, with a big smile, said my name and welcomed me. She took us to our seats and gave us around 3 minutes to decide on our drinks. I then had some time to look around and analyze my surroundings. I realized that the inside feels quite homey. There were paintings and large-scale photos, a big TV, small toy planes hanging from the ceilings, and a bunch of little ornaments scattered around the area.
Eventually, when the time came our actual waiter, Day came up to our table and asked us what drinks we would be ordering. We both got lemonade which was fairly priced, and in just minutes we received our drinks. It tasted amazing and was consistently cold to the touch.
While we were enjoying our drinks, I took a look at the menu and decided what I should get for my main course. While I was looking at the menu I realized that a lot of the menu had foods that many different people could eat, even if said people had some boundaries (like being vegan or vegetarian). But after some thought, I decided to order the Basil Fried Rice ($12.95) because the last time I went I got it, and it was really good.
After I ordered, I asked my waiter what the top 3 foods ordered were. Day said “What do I think are the top 3 foods ordered? I’d say Pad Thai, Drunken Noodles, and Kapow (All being $12.95). A bunch of people also like to order beef-related foods but my personal all-time favorite food to order here is the Crispy Duck with Basil Sauce.”
While I was demolishing and loving my Basil Fried Rice, one of the workers, Kayla checked up on us to see if everything was going well and also decided to share a rather wholesome moment with me. She talked to me about how much I had grown over the months of going to Thai Tyme, and I think it was really sweet because it shows that they pay attention to their customers and appreciate them.
After I was done with my food, I realized that there was a whole lot more left even though I had eaten so much. The servings at Thai Tyme are really big, so I rarely eat everything I order. So I flagged down a server and they brought me a cute little to-go box. After we paid, I picked up the box and left the restaurant.
Recently, somebody at Osbourn started to work at Thai Tyme because it is actually their family business. I got to interview them and here’s what they said about their favorite foods to order at Thai Tyme. Jada Pongsuppat said “Personally, my favorite foods are the Drunken Noodles, and the Tofu! I like to stick to them whenever I eat here although there are some other good options. I heard that Day also likes the Crab-based foods we serve.”
After going to Thai Tyme and experiencing it, I am happy to say that I am really satisfied with everything and everyone there. The atmosphere is homey and cozy, the music really sets the mood and tone, the prices are amazing, the food is plentiful and mouth-watering, and the workers are kind and all really sweet.
I would rate my experience 10/10 and I would recommend anyone who hasn’t yet should try it out! They will realize how good it is as well.
