Manassas Pride Events

Lizzy Ledesma, Writer

LGBTQ+ awareness has become more apparent throughout quarantine. It also allowed people to find themselves, myself included. This inspired Manassas and Prince Willam to put together a few pride events.

On October 3rd, 2021, Equality Prince William welcomes you to come and celebrate Pride in the Greater Prince William County. As well as including Manassas and Manassas Park. There will be music, vendors, kids’ activities and picture spots. The event is family-friendly and will start at noon and end at 4:00 pm.

If you are interested in going, it will be located in Old Town Manassas specifically in the Harris Pavilion area. Food will not be sold at this event but there will be Pride specials/dishes at surrounding Manassas restaurants.

If you cannot make it to this event, there will be other Pride events in October and upcoming months. Though these events will be further away, it may be worth going to. Below is a list of other Pride events in October:

October 5 – Big Queer Story Night at Museum of Shenandoah Valley

October 7 – Book Launch: Living Queer History in Roanoke

October 20-23 – (TIES) Transgender Info. & Empowerment Summit which will be Virtual

To the LGBTQ+ community and allies, this is a huge history maker. Communities all around the world, not just in Virginia, are starting to recognize the beauty within the LGBTQ+ community. As Gore Vidal said, “the important thing is not the object of love, but the emotion itself.”
